11 Dead, 13 Injured in Multiple-Vehicle Crash at Ofankor Barrier
A tragic multiple-vehicle accident occurred at the Ofankor barrier in Accra during the early hours of Thursday, resulting in 11 confirmed deaths and 13 injuries.
The crash, which took place around 4:00 am on the N6 highway express lane, involved two tipper trucks, a minibus, and a tricycle (aboboyaa).
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the collision caused severe damage, particularly to the minibus where several victims were trapped.
Emergency personnel from the fire service and police worked through the morning to rescue survivors and manage the heavy traffic congestion that followed.
By 8:45 am, all trapped victims had been successfully extricated from the mangled vehicle.
